A public feud between Afrobeats stars Davido and Wande Coal escalated this week over an unreleased collaboration, with fans accusing Davido of revenge porn after he reposted alleged nude photographs linked to an old controversy involving Wande Coal. The dispute centred on Wande Coal’s 2021 hit, Come My Way, for which Davido had recorded a verse that was never officially released. Davido said he disagreed with plans to release the original song before using his contribution for a remix, while Wande Coal disputed his account and accused him of trying to dictate the song’s release strategy. The exchange later became personal, with Davido referencing the 2010 controversy over alleged nude photographs of Wande Coal. Wande Coal responded with an insult referencing an old viral video involving Davido. The controversy intensified after Davido reposted the alleged photographs, prompting some social media users to accuse him of revenge porn and call for accountability. A Nigerian legal expert, Oluwatodimu Ige, popularly known as Oga_thelawyer, said the repost could potentially have legal consequences under Section 24 of the Cybercrimes Act, particularly if it was intended to embarrass, harass, intimidate or cause distress. However, he cautioned that not every repost of an intimate photograph automatically amounted to revenge porn under Nigerian law, noting that prosecutors would still have to prove the elements of a specific offence. He also explained that the fact that an image had previously been available online did not automatically mean the person had consented to its subsequent redistribution, especially in a different context.

Afrobeats star David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, was recently captured in a playful exchange with the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike. The exchange took place on Thursday when Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke visited Wike in Abuja following his re-election in the August 15 governorship election. In a viral video, Davido repeatedly told Wike, “I won, I beat you guys,” while the minister smiled and disputed the claim. Wike responded, “No, no,” before asking, “You beat us?” Davido insisted that he had won. The light-hearted banter ended with the singer prostrating before Wike before hugging him, drawing laughter and applause from those present. The exchange was widely linked online to the recent Osun governorship election, in which Davido’s uncle, Ademola Adeleke, won re-election on the platform of the Accord Party. Adeleke secured 511,067 votes to defeat the APC candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, who polled 444,815 votes. Davido had actively campaigned for his uncle before the election and had criticised the Federal Government over concerns about the use of federal influence in the poll. However, Wike later said Adeleke won because President Bola Tinubu allowed the election to be free and fair.

Beauty entrepreneur and former Real Housewives of Lagos star Adeola “Diiadem” Adeyemi and fellow entrepreneur Dabota Lawson have traded allegations online following the breakdown of their friendship. The dispute intensified after Diiadem revealed that Lawson had transferred N5m to her as a birthday gift in January 2026, but later requested that the money be returned. Diiadem shared transaction receipts showing the N5m transfer and subsequent refund, saying she initially acknowledged the gift publicly before being informed that the money was expected to be returned. She also accused Lawson of sharing information about her with bloggers and alleged that she had previously done something similar to fellow RHOLagos cast member Sophia Momodu. According to Diiadem, she had once asked Lawson to stay away from her but later reconciled with her after the intervention of her mentor, Eryca Freemantle. She subsequently urged Lawson to stop mentioning her and insisted that her business and reputation would not be destroyed by the alleged smear campaign. The disagreement also revived questions about the pair’s relationship after fans noticed that Diiadem did not publicly celebrate Lawson’s birthday in June, despite Lawson’s support during Diiadem’s 35th birthday earlier in the year. Lawson, however, responded with allegations of her own, accusing Diiadem of being jealous of her success and opportunities. She claimed that Diiadem had once asked her to invite wealthy men to her events and display money to create an impression of financial success. Lawson also disputed Diiadem’s account of the N5m gift, saying she spent more than that amount during Diiadem’s birthday celebration and brought other guests who sprayed money. The dispute later became more personal, with Lawson making claims about Diiadem’s alleged relationship with businessman Olakunle Churchill, the former husband of actress Tonto Dikeh. Lawson alleged that Diiadem travelled to Abuja and publicly displayed affection towards Churchill shortly after arriving. She also claimed that she processed visas for the pair for a trip to Bali and had warned Diiadem against attending Churchill’s son’s birthday. Diiadem acknowledged knowing Churchill but disputed Lawson’s account. She alleged that Lawson had previously tried to facilitate a relationship between Churchill and her friend, Ehi Ogbebor, while also attempting to introduce Diiadem to him. She further accused Lawson of making negative comments about Tonto Dikeh and attempting to influence her interactions with the actress. Lawson maintained that she had supported Diiadem at different stages of her life, including during her pregnancy, and repeated her claims about the Bali trip and other financial assistance she allegedly provided. Another former friend, Christian Kayode, popularly known as Berbiedoll, was subsequently drawn into the dispute. Berbiedoll described Diiadem as a “terrible friend” and alleged that she had supported and promoted her during their friendship. She further claimed that Diiadem had fired a team member for working with her and placed photographers and videographers in situations where they felt pressured to choose between the two women. Ehi Ogbebor also became involved after Diiadem referenced claims concerning Churchill. In a voice note circulating online, Ogbebor denied having a romantic relationship with Churchill and accused Diiadem of dragging her into the dispute. Ogbebor also made allegations about an alleged trip to Uyo more than a decade ago and past accommodation arrangements involving Diiadem and Churchill, while warning Diiadem against further involving her in the controversy. Diiadem later shared portions of Ogbebor’s voice note online as the dispute continued to unfold.

Content creator Samuel Adegbeyi, popularly known as Baami, has recounted how a ₦30,000 loan he took to support his former girlfriend’s business eventually grew into more than ₦300,000 in debt and left him struggling financially and emotionally. Speaking about his journey, Baami said his difficult childhood experiences shaped his determination to succeed. His father died while he was in secondary school, after which he lived with relatives and neighbours who helped him continue his education. Although he initially wanted to become a chartered accountant, Baami began creating content in 2024 while in his final year of HND. He said his manager encouraged him to venture into content creation despite his initial reluctance to become publicly known. As his popularity grew, several skit makers began inviting him to feature in their content. He has since worked with personalities including Oluwadolarz, Nasboi, Shank and Cute Abiola. Baami said his financial struggles began while he was in a relationship. Wanting to support his girlfriend in starting a business, he borrowed about ₦30,000 from an online loan platform and added some of his savings before giving her the money. According to him, her attitude towards him changed after she received the money, while the short repayment period and accumulating interest pushed him into a cycle of debt. He said the initial ₦30,000 loan eventually rose to more than ₦300,000, forcing him to borrow from other loan platforms to repay the previous debts. For almost a year, Baami said he battled serious financial and emotional difficulties. At one point, he spent about four months mostly indoors and relied on a friend who provided food and cared for him. He described the period as one of the most difficult experiences of his life but said he eventually recovered and continued his education and content creation journey. Baami said TikTok became his first major source of income. His manager encouraged him to host regular live sessions, where viewers sent gifts that could be converted into money. He recalled receiving about ₦500,000 as his first major TikTok income. He later expanded to Facebook, where his first payout in January was about $200. The content creator currently has about 1.3 million followers on Facebook. His main TikTok account, which had about 1.4 million followers, was reportedly banned, leaving him to continue with a backup account. Baami said he has no specific content niche at the moment, explaining that he creates different types of content and portrays characters such as bosses, businessmen and mechanics. He also spoke about facing discrimination because of his physical condition, particularly during his school years. However, he said some people eventually changed their attitudes after discovering his abilities. He acknowledged that hurtful comments about his appearance sometimes affected him deeply and contributed to periods of depression, but said he chose to focus on self-improvement rather than dwell on the negativity. Baami said his experiences have influenced his outlook on life and that he believes the challenges he faced ultimately led him to content creation. He explained that the debt prevented him from returning to school at the time he had planned, but the delay allowed him to meet his manager and begin his career as a content creator. Although he studied for a qualification that could have led to a career in accounting, Baami said he currently has no plans to seek employment with his certificate because content creation is already providing for his needs. He said he hopes to expand his YouTube presence and eventually become a global content creator with an audience across different countries. On marriage, Baami said he remains open to settling down but wants to find someone who genuinely loves and supports him rather than being attracted to his money or fame. Looking ahead, he expressed confidence that his content creation career would take him beyond Nigeria, saying he hopes to become a globally recognised creator within the next three to five years.

Media personality Frank Edoho has criticised the soaring cost of real estate in Lagos, describing the state’s property market as “armed robbery” and questioning how Nigerians can afford the luxury homes being offered for sale. Edoho made the remarks during a recent episode of The KK Show, where he compared the prices of high-end properties in Lagos with those in other parts of the world, arguing that the local market is difficult to justify considering Nigeria’s economic conditions. According to him, the price of some luxury homes in Lagos is comparable to that of significantly more valuable assets abroad. He claimed that Hollywood actor Leonardo DiCaprio owns an island valued at about $1.7 million, while a mansion in Osapa, Lagos, is reportedly listed for around $1.5 million despite what he described as inadequate infrastructure in the area. “What are we talking about? It’s armed robbery,” Edoho said while criticising the pricing of the property. The broadcaster also questioned the purchasing power of Nigerians, noting that wages have remained low despite the sharp increase in property prices. He pointed to the country’s minimum wage, which he said is below ₦100,000, and wondered how ordinary Nigerians could afford homes worth hundreds of millions of naira. Edoho further cited the depreciation of the naira and the country’s struggling economy, asking who the real buyers of such expensive properties are. When the programme’s host suggested that Nigerians living abroad account for a significant number of buyers, Edoho acknowledged that those earning in foreign currencies could afford such investments but questioned who was purchasing the properties from within Nigeria. He asked whether the clientele consisted mainly of government officials, internet fraudsters or pastors. Responding to the concerns, the property developer featured on the programme dismissed the suggestion that his customers largely belonged to those groups. He explained that property prices are determined by prevailing market conditions, adding that even clients who initially criticised the cost of homes often sold their own properties at similar market rates once they entered the market.

The eleventh season of Big Brother Naija has officially commenced, with 24 contestants stepping into Biggie’s house to compete for the show’s record ₦160 million grand prize. The new season, themed “Show Ya Sef,” was unveiled on Sunday night by longtime host Ebuka Obi-Uchendu. The housemates introduced during the launch include Tram, Temi Nkem, Martins, Abi, Chimsom Chuka, Keivo, Mercedes, Kamsi, Sultex, Aikou, Flora, Bells, Gerard, Oyin, Sheba, Araga, Ricky, Nomy, Barry, Neche, Yusuf, Goddessa, Bluethopia and Cassi. Several contestants wasted no time outlining their goals, stressing that their focus is on winning the competition rather than pursuing romantic relationships. Twenty-four-year-old Lagos-based streamer Tram said he entered the house solely to compete for the prize, adding that romance would not distract him from his objective. Similarly, 21-year-old model Temi Nkem expressed confidence in her approach, saying she intends to play the game according to her own strategy. Martins, a visual storyteller and model from Kogi State, said he is eager to enjoy the experience while giving his best in the race for the grand prize. The reality show will run for 72 days, with the eventual winner walking away with a prize package valued at ₦160 million.
