Coca-Cola says it plans to invest an additional one billion dollars in Nigeria over the next five years, subject to a predictable and enabling policy environment.
The company disclosed this in a statement following a socio-economic assessment of its operations in Nigeria.
The assessment found that the Coca-Cola System, comprising Coca-Cola Nigeria and the Nigerian Bottling Company, supported about 160,200 jobs across its value chain in one year.
It also generated an estimated one billion dollars in economic value and spent about 601 million dollars annually on goods and services sourced from local suppliers.
The company says its operations also support sectors including agriculture, logistics, retail and distribution.
The assessment further highlighted Coca-Cola’s investments in plastic recycling and water sustainability projects, including initiatives in Borno and Imo states.
The company says the planned one-billion-dollar investment will help expand its operations and strengthen local supply chains, provided the business environment remains supportive.
