Labour Party youth leaders have proposed exploring an alliance with the All Progressives Congress and groups supporting President Bola Tinubu ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
The proposal followed a virtual meeting involving the party’s National Youth Leader, Prince Kennedy Ahanotu, five zonal youth leaders and 32 state youth leaders.
The youth leaders reportedly expressed dissatisfaction with what they described as inadequate recognition, engagement and support for young people during and after the 2023 elections.
They have mandated Ahanotu to begin consultations with the APC, Renewed Hope Movement, City Boy Movement and Tinubu Support Groups on possible political cooperation.
The group said it wants a political platform that would provide greater opportunities for youth participation, leadership development, economic empowerment and inclusion in national decision-making.
The proposed alliance is still at the consultation stage, with the youth leaders expected to hold a physical meeting in Abuja after the discussions to decide their next steps.
The development comes amid ongoing political realignments ahead of the 2027 general elections and continued divisions within the Labour Party.
