Manchester City is facing a deadline to appeal after an independent commission found the club guilty of more than 100 breaches of Premier League financial rules.

The Premier League announced the verdict on Tuesday, with City accused of using what the commission described as sham deals to inflate revenues and reduce costs by more than 900 million pounds between 2009 and 2018.

The club, which has consistently denied wrongdoing, could face a heavy points deduction, a fine or even expulsion from the Premier League.

The Football Association says the case has significant implications for the integrity of English football and that it is carefully considering the commission’s decision.

City’s main sponsor, Etihad Airways, has also rejected the findings and said it is considering legal action against the Premier League.

The case could also lead to compensation claims from other clubs, while there is speculation that Manchester City could be stripped of some of its titles if the ruling is upheld.
