The Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has retained the benchmark Monetary Policy Rate (MPR) at 26.5 per cent for the second consecutive meeting.
CBN Governor Olayemi Cardoso announced the decision on Tuesday at the end of the committee’s 306th meeting in Abuja.
According to Cardoso, the committee resolved to maintain the MPR at 26.5 per cent.
The decision comes after the MPC also held the rate at its previous meeting, following a 50-basis-point reduction announced in February 2026.
